How does a hydration bladder work?
A hydration bladder is a flexible reservoir designed to fit inside a backpack. It is connected to a flexible tube with a mouthpiece or bite valve. By gently sucking, water travels to your mouth without needing to remove the backpack, allowing continuous hydration while walking, trail running, or camping.
How does a Decathlon hydration bladder work?
A Decathlon hydration bladder (such as Forclaz or Quechua) works like other hydration systems: fill it through a wide, watertight opening, insert the tube, and lock the system. A non-return valve makes it easy to drink without spilling. It is compatible with most hiking backpacks equipped with dedicated compartments.
How should you store a hydration bladder?
After each use, it is essential to empty, rinse, and thoroughly dry the hydration bladder to prevent mold or unpleasant odors from developing. Leave it open so air can circulate, or store it clean and dry in the freezer to inhibit bacterial growth between uses.
Why is it sometimes called a water bag?
“Water bag” is sometimes used incorrectly to refer to a hydration bladder integrated into a backpack. This popular term simply suggests that the bag contains a flexible reservoir designed to carry water, with easy access through a tube for hydration on the move.
